Two Announcements

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

KBC Family,

I hope your New Year is off to a wonderful (if cold) start!  I have a couple of things to remind you about:
1) Tonight (Wed. 1/4) at 6:30pm we will meet at the church to "take down the greens" in the sanctuary.  In the past, it has taken MUCH less time to take down than to put up, especially if we have lots of volunteers.  Deacon meeting begins at 7:30, but I imagine with a lot of help we can have all the decorations down before then.  If you can spare a few minutes this evening, please come help us clean the sanctuary up for the Epiphany season ahead!
2) On Sunday 1/15, we'll have a baptism service for three girls who have come forward in the last few months.  Carly Roberts, Abigail Parks, and Amber Parker will all be baptized that day, and will also experience their first communion.  I want to let you know about this so that you can put it on your calendar, but also so that you can write notes of encouragement to these girls as they are baptized that day.  It's a special time, and I know they would each love to have reminders from you that, as their brother or sister in Christ, you will be praying for their growth in the months and years ahead.
Enjoy the rest of your week – hope to see you Sunday!

Christmas Weekend Services

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

KBC Family,

Just a reminder that we will have a Christmas Eve service tonight at 5:30pm, and Christmas Sunday worship tomorrow morning at 11am – no Sunday School this week.
Hope you have a wonder-full weekend!
Jon

Hanging the Green – Wed. 11/30

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

KBC Family,

Just a reminder that our Hanging the Green event will be held tomorrow, Wednesday evening, beginning at 6:00 pm.  We'll have a pizza dinner and light snacks, then decorate the church for the Advent and Christmas season.  Here are a few notes to help you prepare:
  • CASUAL – It's "family-style" – we won't have a formal service, but we will work together to put up the decorations, talk about the meaning of what we do, and maybe sing a couple of Christmas carols.  There will be work for the kids to do, too!
  • FOOD – I'll order pizzas, and we'll have water available.  I'll also bring a few boxes of store-bought cookies or something similar.  You do not have to bring food, but if you would like to, bring some kind of dessert or chips or something similar.
  • LADDERS – We could use a few extra stepladders of various heights – if it's easy for you to bring one, then bring it on!
  • EARLY BIRDS – if you can be there early (4:30 or later), please come and help us get the trees and lights assembled.  Having these done means that the event itself will be shorter, because we'll have some of the tedious work done.
Hope to see you tomorrow.  Come join in the fun!
Jon

Thanks for a great Pumpkin Carving!

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

Michelle Gary asked me to pass this along to all of you – my thanks too for a wonderful evening carving pumpkins!

——————————-

Hello KBC family,

A BIG thank you to all who helped in any way for the pumpkin carving last night.  Whether you cooked or bought food and goodies, served food, organized tables, moved tables, put paper on tables, made sure enough food was supplied, helped with sweeping, mopping, washing dishes,or came to support and have a great time with our youth. Most importantly, we had a great time with family and friends!

A good praise announcement would be how Kenbridge Baptist family & friends always come together and help to make things great spite our busy lives and schedules!  This is a praise and something to be so thankful for.

Have a great safe weekend everybody.

God bless you from the Children & Youth Counsel Committee

Donations and Volunteers Needed

Friday, October 14th, 2011

KBC Family,

Happy Friday!  Please see the message below from Hope Dunbar:

———- Forwarded message ———-
From: Ty and Hope Dunbar <tyandhope@embarqmail.com>
Date: Thu, Oct 13, 2011 at 6:06 AM

It was decided at our Children and Youth Committee Meeting to raise funds specifically for the Children and Youth events that we would like to have throughout the year for children of all ages at KBC.  Our first fundraiser is this Saturday!

We are selling baked goods at the 1st Annual Harvest Festival this Saturday, October 15 from 9am until 1pm at the Kenbridge Park.

The Harvest Festival will include lots of free children's games, activities, face-painting and live music.  Other churches and non-profit groups will be there offering other homemade foods and drinks for sale.  The Farmer's Market will be going on at the same time, too.

We are the only group providing "sweets" so we need donations!

If you can provide donations of cookies, brownies, cakes, pies or other sweet treats, please take them to the church by 8am Saturday or call Hope Dunbar to make other arrangements to get them to her (676-1544 or 294-9916)  If possible, package your treats in single serve bags that will be ready to sell.  We will also offer whole pies/cakes if we have them.  No donations will be refused!

**Our tent will also need an adults and children/youth to sell from 8:30 until 1:00.  Let Hope know if you will be able to help on Saturday.**

Thank you!

Baptism Today – casual dress

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

KBC Family,

I know this information will come too late to some of you, but today's baptism & communion service will be INFORMAL – the order of service is flexible, and many will be wearing more casual clothes.  In other words, please do not make an extra effort to dress up!
Hope to see you at noon,
Jon

Special Baptism Service Thursday

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

KBC Family,

As most of you know, Celina Gaidowski and Laura Waddell came forward a few weeks ago desiring to be baptized into our church.  Because Mike has been so ill since then, there has not been a good time to do that service.  We want Mike to be able to see his girls baptized, so we will have a special baptism service tomorrow, Thursday Sept. 29, at 12:00 noon at the church.  Everyone is invited to be a part!
While it might be difficult to arrange on short notice, I know that many of you would want to be present to support the family in a time that is both exciting and challenging.  If you can make it, the service itself should last about 30 minutes, and will include communion.
Hope you can make it tomorrow,
Jon

9/11 Remembrance Service

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

KBC Family,

I wanted to let you know of an opportunity for worship and reflection next Sunday morning, Sept. 11.  An open community service will be held next Sunday from 9:00-9:45 am at the Episcopal Church in Kenbridge – in their new outdoor chapel, weather permitting.  Refreshments will follow the service, and local first responders will be recognized and appreciated.
Hope you'll be able to take advantage of this unique opportunity.  Remember also that in our worship service Sunday, we'll have a deacon ordination service for John Bledsoe, as well as a brief time of remembrance and reflection on the anniversary of 9/11.
Have a good, rainy Tuesday!
Jon
